Partha Pratim Roy is one of the most accomplished practitioners of Indian of Indian classical music today.
Started learning the art and musicology of sitar playing from Pt. Debi Prasad Chatterjee, Pt. NiharbinduChowdhury and Sangeetacharya Ajoy Sinha Roy. Also learnt the intricacies of Tabla from Pt. Anil Palit. Partha Pratim Roy is influenced by Pt. Nikhil Banerjee and also imbibes the style of Pt. Ravi Shankar and UstadVilayat Khan.
Roy went on with his love for music and performed in all the major conferences in India. His performances at Ramkrishna Mission Golpark- Mallar Utsav, Haldia Music conference, EZCC, Baba Allauddin Khan, IIIC, Habitat- HCL concert (New Delhi), Nehru center(Mumbai), Swaralaya, Soorya, MPCC, Bharat Bhavan, Sangeet Natak (Kerala) earned him distinction.
His major foreign tours include the once given in embassies of Germany, Hungary, Italy, Holland, Bangladesh and private concerts in Spain, Belgium, Japan, Norway, France, Switzerland and other parts of the globe on several occasions. Gave lecture demonstrations in various Universities of Asia and Europe.
Awarded Sangeet Gourav from Award Council of India and Pride of Region, Govt. of India. Roy performed in the fusion of Anandashankar and composed music for CD’s and TV serials.
